Once upon a time there was a blog that wasn't up-to-date...
Yes thats my one :P.

After completing my finals at the games-academy i got a job by NewMedia Yuppies GmbH in Frankfurt am Main as 3D-Artist. I'm doin a lot of interesting stuff for example modeling some cool things for a multi-touch application or designing interfaces.

At the moment i dont get it to do some personal stuff, but when the time comes you will see it here :) (and dont forget to check my portfolio: http://e2-designs.de)

We painted a picture of one of my classmates (Patrick Deza) - a lineart of Princess Mononoke :)

Today we had a very interesting lecture in 3D sculpting in Mudbox - answered me a lot of questions and i think the paint feature in mudbox will highly improve my workflow in the future :D

Today the 3dsmax-license server was down so i couldn't do projectwork; in addition i practiced a little digital colorization - for that a took a picture from the internet (original: http://images.elfwood.com/art/a/n/andren/dragon_head1135kb.jpg)
and colo'd it.

My education at the games academy is almost finished...
now i have to start with creating my own portfolio. Here are some renderings of my first 3D-Model "Anubis".

Today i worked on a 3D-creature-Model for next-gen graphics;
I started with low-poly-modeling the base mesh (reference was a concept of anubis on deviantart: http://th01.deviantart.net/fs8/300W/i/2005/323/b/c/Anubis_by_Beloved_Creature.jpg), than importing it into Mudbox - working some details out. Than i reimportet the basemesh back to 3dsmax, did the uv and again - mudbox for sculpting the normal map.
After some steps i worked out the diffuse, specular and self illumination map and for presentation - a 3-point lighting-rendering :).

Hi everyone. After some stressful days full of exams, I am proud to present you the new Nanosuit 3 for our "Crysis Hellfire" Project.
Thanks to all docents, friends, classmates and my girlfrind for many critiques and feedbacks - i think the result can be shown ;)

Our team - specially one person, has also prepared a cool trailer for ns3.0.
He also did all the rigging and skinning for the game.

Today we began with concepting our own "next-gen" weapon.
After 2 hours i started with modelling the base mesh. Next days I will finish the highpoly model and start with baking the normal map(s).

After these things we turned over to get some practice in texturing and rendering gras as easy as possible :)

Today we have our second lecture "hard surface modelling" - started with a plane and let it act as a "ripple board". Here is the first result.

The Long Walk

Hm weekend...a lot of time to practice digital coloration and refresh the last lectures. First I searched for a pencil sketch, which has the potential for a cool atmosphere. I found a sketch from "Kilmainham" a former prison in Dublin/Ireland.
I worked out the colors and here it is :)

Lesson two of digital coloration; now the theme was coloration of a line-portrait.
It was very difficult to analyse the complex colors of a human face and their behaviour as shadows.

Today we had a lecture in "creating atmosphere" by Jan Niesler.
We had to paint a line-artwork and create an atmosphere we want (i chose a rainy and depressing atmosphere like we have every day in frankfurt since beginning of november ;)

Illidans Rage

After some hours I finished the first atmospheric-concept of "Illidan's Rage".
Here is the result :). Next step is: finishing the character colors and than creating a background which fits the most to Illidan.

Studying digital coloration

So, here is the result from practicing digital coloration.
I tried some shapes and than added some light colors. My suggestion of this way of working is - it is fast and has a great learn effect :D!
